S-PA Directors visit Colleagues at the London Property Alliance

Earlier this month, the Directors visited the headquarters of the London Property Alliance, which brings together the Westminster Property Association and the City Property Association to provide a singular, high-influence voice for Central London's commercial property sector.  Together with the SPA these three groups are the only Property Associations within England. 

The primary aim of our meeting was to build connections so that the 3 property associations can collaborate more for the mutual benefit of our members. 

We also wanted to understand how the LPA develops its influence, performs its research and approaches member engagement so we could identify any initiatives or approaches that we could replicate or support within the SPA. 

The meeting was hugely positive and we came away with a deeper understanding of the different focuses held by the City Property Association and the Westminster Property Association, and the overarching  support provided by the London Property Alliance.  

We also saw the benefits of direct engagement with politicians (across the political spectrum) to garner support for certain initiatives of the LPA, and to identify supporters for certain research outputs with a view to driving forward policy changes.

It was clear that the LPA is very interested in working with the SPA to expand collaboration outside of London so that our respective member’s “voice” can be heard at regional and national level.  The emerging devolution intentions of the current Government will no doubt drive this interest further forward.  

We have agreed to share research and to collaborate in hosting events to mutually support each other. We look forward to being able to invite members of the SPA to certain LPA events and to welcome LPA members here in Sheffield and South Yorkshire in the future.  Watch this space!
