Celebrating Progress and Looking to the Future

25th October 2023

The Sheffield Property Association (SPA) recently hosted “Refresh”, our most-recent highly anticipated breakfast event to commemorate the significant progress made by the association and discuss its future endeavours. Hosted at Lykke in Sheffield's New Era Square, the event brought together all members of the SPA as an association. It provided a valuable opportunity to listen to representatives of the priority groups and participate in discussions about shaping Sheffield's property landscape and the broader region.

The breakfast event commenced with a reflection on the achievements of the SPA so far where it was evident that the association's purpose and values have been instrumental in driving its success. After introducing our new board of directors and refreshed branding, the spotlight was then turned to the priority groups, who play a crucial role in the SPA's mission.

“Working for You” kicked off the talks from our priority groups, hammering the message that our strength lies within our members, and how they exist to build relationships and networks within the membership. Another of our priority groups, "Inspiring the Future," focuses on attracting and nurturing the best talent in Sheffield's built environment. By engaging and inspiring the next generation of professionals, this group aims to shape the future of both the city and the sector. Another group, "Shaping the City," works closely with key stakeholders to create and influence a positive planning framework for Sheffield, ensuring its sustainable growth.

“Promoting Sheffield” is another vital aspect of the SPA's work. Through marketing campaigns, research, and insightful initiatives, the association aims to showcase Sheffield's potential and collaborate with partners across the region. "Aspire," the internal network for early careers professionals, strives to make Sheffield an attractive destination for building a career and offers opportunities for talent development.

Recognising the importance of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), the SPA has formed a dedicated group to foster understanding and improvement within the association, Sheffield, and the industry.

This commitment to numerous priority groups aligns with the broader strategic work of the SPA, which includes collaborations with Homes England, government entities, Sheffield City Council, and the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.

During the breakfast event, engaging discussions were held to explore the future of the SPA and how it can continue to shape Sheffield's property landscape. Members actively participated in examining the association's vision, goals, and objectives, emphasising the need for a clear and cohesive approach. The event served as a platform for members to contribute their ideas and insights, ensuring that the SPA remains at the forefront of progress in the region.

As the breakfast event concluded, it was evident that the SPA's journey is far from over. With a shared commitment to excellence and collaboration, the association is poised to continue making a positive impact on Sheffield's property sector. By forging ahead with determination and a unified vision, the SPA is undoubtedly shaping the future of Sheffield’s property landscape and contributes to the overall development of the wider city region.
